summer so far again...

I finally learned how to use my juicer which I didn't want to learn before but now feel VERY led to get on it so I can really help heal my body! If you get time try to read this book about juicing. You will learn some new surprising facts and it is a quick read. These veggies are from my garden or farmer's market.

Flowers from Aldi, only $4 and aren't they gorgeous??? I love to brighten the room. Not many to really pick from my own garden when I got these last week.

Found this a few weeks ago for our school room at Good Will, furniture was half off, retro, excellent condition and it SWIVELS!! If you know me, you know I have a strange weakness for chairs that swivel. I think I paid $3 something.

My pilot mom, being interviewed again for the Wanna Be a Pilot weekend! Wish I got photos of the cool jet plane and the Chinook helicopter!

Finally found a new place to pick our own blueberries. I only had two helpers available that day so couldn't get as many as we wanted. Our old place, just never can get in there now. This one you pick and just weigh and drop your check in the bucket...quite lovely. Braveheart adores these fresh picked ones over the frozen and they're local and cancer fighting!! A must have in this house. I froze them and they are almost gone already. I hope to get enough for the year next time.

soft lovely progress...

Well, I finished my next crazy crochet blanket and I love it but I can't show it to you quite yet since it is a gift and that person could, possibly be watching this. However, I will show you my latest small finished lovely. Tada!

I got this 100% lambs wool at a thrift store for 88 cents. It is so sweetly soft and lovely. I like making hats for their traveling ease. The blankets get way to big and bulky you know.

My mom and I did some modeling for you. That was fun bonding time. :)

My secret agent boy has been wondering when I am going to start his blanket and I have had to put it off explaining to him that I needed to find more colors before I could start a crazy blanket for him. Finally I have acquired enough yarn that I have started it and he is elated! I let him chose what colors he wanted and I must say, he picked a strange mixture, but that is the fun of crazy blankets because they often end up looking really cool every time!! So here is a peek at his very crazy crochet blanket!!

sewing fun bags

Didn't I tell you that I was itching to sew? We've been spending some of our extra time working on some sewing projects around here. I didn't really want to start a long project yet so when the need arose for bags this week, I went to town making these quick easy bags. I see future Christmas gifts here. What fun. On top of that, I was being frugal as well. I picked up some large pieces of fleece at the thrift store, maybe 3-4 yards, for under $5!!
We have some great things that I can't wait to show you that we've been up to. I did get some of the sewing out of my system, but I am still raring to go. My dear damsel has the bug as well. I will let you know how that is going.

mission: organizing basement

Well, we have the beginnings of a sewing/ craft room that I had dreamed of when we first moved here. Alas, it isn't fancy or done to say the least and I am not investing any money at this time, but I am trying to be creative with what we have. I want to create a place that will provide all sorts of treasures right at our fingertips! I am so excited!

It was soooo fun to be going through my fabric strips, quilt squares and pretty buttons. Look at this pretty box I found at the thrift store. I couldn't resist buying it to place some little things in. This area needs brightening up badly.

thrifty doll house treasure

Check this out!! Damsel girl and I found this little treasure at GW one day. Isn't it cute? But wait until you see the little surprise that came with it!

Isn't that adorable? We couldn't resist after we made that discovery. Dad helped by cutting some carpet squares for the palace...I mean 'home made doll house'. :)

Why MAGNANIMOUS?

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the American Language defines Magnanimity as such:
MAGNANIM'ITY, n. [L. magnanimitas; magnus, great, and animus, mind.] Greatness of mind; that elevation or dignity of soul, which encounters danger and trouble with tranquillity and firmness, which raises the possessor above revenge, and makes him delight in acts of benevolence, which makes him disdain injustice and meanness, and prompts him to sacrifice personal ease, interest and safety for the accomplishment of useful and noble objects.
