veggie garden update

Can you guess what this is?
Answer below.

Here is the beautiful sweet pea flower bud.
It looks so delicate and tender doesn't it?

Sweep pea cluster.

Mature pea.
Love how the sun shines through,
showing the little baby peas inside.

A cluster of beets. These are always a sweet reminder of my Braveheart.
He loved beets and loved to plant them with me.

Kale with a lovely droplet of water.
Mustard greens, voluntary.

Cucumbers are growing.

One of my 'hauls' from this week.

My first sweet pea harvest.

If you're still with me and curious about what that veggie is......

if you guessed Broccoli then you are correct!!

That was fun.

flower dye continued...again...

Day 4

Well, here is day 4.

It appears to have a general hue of blue throughout, although it is quite subtle.

The peony is on its last leg.

Next time we will add a new color after day 2.

What do you think??

flower dye continued

Day 3
Well, what do you think?
My observation is twofold...
1. Peonies are not a great flower for this project in relation to the fact that this flower, quite frankly, does not live long outdoors let alone in a vase in the house...hence the droopiness.

2. I feel as though I am observing a slightly more intense blue at the tips, but not actually more diffusion throughout the petals.

What do you think?

See you on day 4.

flower coloring to dye for

DAY 1

DAY 2

We are experimenting with our beautiful peonies.
The littles and I were at the Dentist's office last week and we noticed these lovely 'tie dye' tulips.
They were amazing!
So, we decided to experiment at home,
we picked our white peony,
added blue dye,
kazoom!!
Keep watching for updates!

It's peony season!
Isn't this the most beautiful picture of God's creation? Look at the soft, layers and layers of petals.

Why MAGNANIMOUS?

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the American Language defines Magnanimity as such:
MAGNANIM'ITY, n. [L. magnanimitas; magnus, great, and animus, mind.] Greatness of mind; that elevation or dignity of soul, which encounters danger and trouble with tranquillity and firmness, which raises the possessor above revenge, and makes him delight in acts of benevolence, which makes him disdain injustice and meanness, and prompts him to sacrifice personal ease, interest and safety for the accomplishment of useful and noble objects.
