Fabric dyeing and host student's quilt progress.

Here are some results of my lovely lavender fabric dyeing. I really enjoyed this process with the exception of rinsing forever...lol.

This one was an experiment using the dropper.

K is almost finished with her quilt. She is making straight quilt lines.
Binding tomorrow!

Good looking loaf of fresh ground, whole white wheat, homemade bread.

This is my 'postage stamp' hand stitch piece I am working on as I sit with my man in the evening. Only two 9 patches thus far, but I am really enjoying it. The middle piece is my own embroidery. I changed it to 1 1/2" because my eyes stopped straining at that size. haaa

More fabric dye fat quarters.

Really in to hand piecing right now, so I joined the hand piece quilt along. week 1 is a 9 patch.
Used my dyed fabric.

Update on daughter's travel quilt. Here is the block she chose for one of the sides of the quilt. Hoping to wipe this out after we finish K's quilt.
Good fortune quilt? Well, it is tabled for right now. I have a bunch of these graduation projects to finish first.

Many blessings to you and happy stitching!!

Good Fortune Mystery Quilt clues update....Japanese New Year!!

Ok, well, I was unable to keep posting here as I tackled each clue, but here is a taste of some of my clues. I just need to redo some of the clue #2 (accidentally made the wrong size!!) and finish clue clue #3. I am loving it so far!!
Clue #1 finished, see prev post.

Clue #2
so sad that I made the wrong size, but I will use these in another project.
I am able to use some of these lovely purples still.

Clue #4~ finished
Absolutely love these.
I used a variety of oranges and a thin strip of purple,
so I hope that works well.
Clue #5
First time making quarter half square triangles.
Super fun, especially with Bonnie's new tool I purchased.
Finished.
Also, started using my purple linen I have had around for some time, love it!

Clue #6
Strip piecing again. Love doing this.
Love how they turned out.

Happy New Year!!!
We celebrated with a traditional Japanese New Year meal.
It turned out very well.
This made our Japanese exchange daughter very happy.

Misumi continues her mission to supervise and assist all quilting activities!!

Pencil Case
Made for my daughter out of her favorite cotton and steel
Japanese train ride canvas fabric!
Will make more of these.

Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2018

My goal is to truly document this mystery quilt well, as I go. I almost started last year's On Ringo Lake, but after having fun picking fabric, I was simply unable to get started and lost track of the whole thing. This year, I had half  of the fabric ready and I am a go for 'Good fortune'....so excited, and so far, I am having so much fun seeing the first clue come together. It's addicting.
Go here to check out the full instructions from Bonnie's website.

Here is some of my fabric color selections....everything is from my stash.
reds~blues
greens~bright greens
blues~purple
oranges~ oranges/ coral
Neutrals~same

I love seeing this chain lengthen at my sewing machine.

 Sew pretty.....

Misumi is the fabric protector and supervisor and loves to keep me company while I quilt.

I just love this sew much!!

We had a major snow storm come in last night...all night...

It is still coming....
and we ended up with 13"!!!

The girls went sledding...is was K's first time...

Why MAGNANIMOUS?

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the American Language defines Magnanimity as such:
MAGNANIM'ITY, n. [L. magnanimitas; magnus, great, and animus, mind.] Greatness of mind; that elevation or dignity of soul, which encounters danger and trouble with tranquillity and firmness, which raises the possessor above revenge, and makes him delight in acts of benevolence, which makes him disdain injustice and meanness, and prompts him to sacrifice personal ease, interest and safety for the accomplishment of useful and noble objects.
