Good Fortune Mystery Quilt clues update....Japanese New Year!!

Ok, well, I was unable to keep posting here as I tackled each clue, but here is a taste of some of my clues. I just need to redo some of the clue #2 (accidentally made the wrong size!!) and finish clue clue #3. I am loving it so far!!
Clue #1 finished, see prev post.

Clue #2
so sad that I made the wrong size, but I will use these in another project.
I am able to use some of these lovely purples still.

Clue #4~ finished
Absolutely love these.
I used a variety of oranges and a thin strip of purple,
so I hope that works well.
Clue #5
First time making quarter half square triangles.
Super fun, especially with Bonnie's new tool I purchased.
Finished.
Also, started using my purple linen I have had around for some time, love it!

Clue #6
Strip piecing again. Love doing this.
Love how they turned out.

Happy New Year!!!
We celebrated with a traditional Japanese New Year meal.
It turned out very well.
This made our Japanese exchange daughter very happy.

Misumi continues her mission to supervise and assist all quilting activities!!

Pencil Case
Made for my daughter out of her favorite cotton and steel
Japanese train ride canvas fabric!
Will make more of these.

More quilt updates coming soon.
Blessings to you...

Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2018

My goal is to truly document this mystery quilt well, as I go. I almost started last year's On Ringo Lake, but after having fun picking fabric, I was simply unable to get started and lost track of the whole thing. This year, I had half  of the fabric ready and I am a go for 'Good fortune'....so excited, and so far, I am having so much fun seeing the first clue come together. It's addicting.
Go here to check out the full instructions from Bonnie's website.

Here is some of my fabric color selections....everything is from my stash.
reds~blues
greens~bright greens
blues~purple
oranges~ oranges/ coral
Neutrals~same

I love seeing this chain lengthen at my sewing machine.

 Sew pretty.....

Misumi is the fabric protector and supervisor and loves to keep me company while I quilt.

I just love this sew much!!

We had a major snow storm come in last night...all night...

It is still coming....
and we ended up with 13"!!!

The girls went sledding...is was K's first time...

Ninja Boy's Flannel Rag Quilt

I finished this quilt for the third born way back in November, but as you can see, I fail to get these things documented in a timely manner. lol
 Love that boy's smile!

We have fabric protecting, project supervising cats around here.
Above is a better look at the color of the blanket.

He loves it, by the way. A special thanks  to my hubby for helping with all of the cutting of the edges.

Daughter's Sweet 16 Swoon Pattern Quilt is Finished!!

I actually finished this a couple weeks ago, and she has been loving and enjoying it ever since.
I am so proud of this.
This quilt was made with lots of love piecing and quilting on my domestic machine.
SWEET 16 SWOON QUILT 2017
Finished size
81" X 81"

She chose owls for the back! Very cute and whimsical.

Some close up looks at my quilting. I pre-designed my plan for each block,
with only small subtle differences.
Swirls around the sashing and borders.

A close up of the quilting from the back.

She loves it!
I love her!

Sweet 16 Progress

The sashing has been now complete.
I decided to do this at home and not rent the long arm.
I really wanted to do it all myself and save some money!

 Borders are on.
 Cute 'owly' backing is ready.
 It's a sea of owls.
Misi loves to be very involved with each quilt.
Here we go...quilting in the ditch first. So excited!!

More Machine Quilting Pictures From Niece's Quilt

Here are some extra photos of the quilt for my niece.
The first free motion design is a motif that I have designed myself. It works very well in the middle of the quilt block.

 Sorry about the finger..lol.

This was so fun to make and to work on my own free motion quilting at home. Loved it and improved tremendously.

Week 2 Machine Quilting Blog Hop....finally!

Week 2 machine quilting blog hop, which I was and am so excited about, is finally happening over here, even though I had to put it on hold for a couple weeks. Much of week 1 and then some was covered for week 1 with my nieces quilt. Pics coming soon of the entire quilt.
I found some fun panels for only .88 at thrift store last week, and they are perfect for creating practice sandwiches. I love getting to go through the many new quilty patterns. Some styles I have literally never quilted before! This is a great experience for me.
Here is what I have done so far this week.

Pebbles and Switchbacks.
Fun!

Straight lines. Fun, but difficult without the walking foot.
Not bad, do you think?

Wood grain, which was just weird. I will have to practice.
I did, however, get lots of compliments on this.

Wavy lines. Fun, but nothing fancy.
Practice makes progress.
I will keep practicing.

I will see you soon for week #3.

Why MAGNANIMOUS?

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the American Language defines Magnanimity as such:
MAGNANIM'ITY, n. [L. magnanimitas; magnus, great, and animus, mind.] Greatness of mind; that elevation or dignity of soul, which encounters danger and trouble with tranquillity and firmness, which raises the possessor above revenge, and makes him delight in acts of benevolence, which makes him disdain injustice and meanness, and prompts him to sacrifice personal ease, interest and safety for the accomplishment of useful and noble objects.
