persevering this week

This week we are sick with a virus that is making it's rounds. Braveheart can barely speak since his voice is so crackly, but he seems to be coughing less, so we are thankful. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but it may appear that the fever fear is over for him. I am full fledged head mucous queen with sore throat and the potential to start coughing. Manly man is the only one who has been able to avoid it and we hope that continues. He is the meat and potatoes of the family, if you know what I mean! :) (does that make me the dressing or the side dish?) :)

That being said, we are attempting to get as much school as we can done under the circumstances. We started reading STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING this week. It's short, but sweet with lovely illustrations. We will memorize the poem, study animal tracks and poetry in general. We also started the 1920's for history and we will watch a video of the period. I am glad we have one to watch while we are so viral inflicted.

Last week I went to thrift store and found a plethora of good deals that I had to share with you. I got a new winter coat for T, a lovely, spring jacket for miss. stylin' (nice dressy kind) and hit the art jackpot! 2 art books, water color paper and a huge new pad of sketch paper, but then a box of 24 Prismacolor water color pencils and a set of tube water color paints! I am so excited, once I feel better we are ready to get those out again regularly. What a blessing that was.

Yesterday, before I was as sick as today, we ventured outside for a little sun. The weather was so warm and lovely! I really wanted B to get out and feel the wind on his face. It was lovely! Just look at what's left of this snow pile. As we observed the yard and gardens, I am sad to report that unlike our friends from down south, we have not one crocus yet, but I know the day is coming. I am trying to not get the bug for spring quite yet, I am still in the middle of winter things here.

Here is the only thing we had any luck finding which was easily identified since we have had our tracking book out. We confirmed our suspicions, rabbit. Ugh. Sorry you had to see this. I did make it small though. Hope you still come back. I am officially exhausted so I am off to bed.
:)

Why MAGNANIMOUS?

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the American Language defines Magnanimity as such:
MAGNANIM'ITY, n. [L. magnanimitas; magnus, great, and animus, mind.] Greatness of mind; that elevation or dignity of soul, which encounters danger and trouble with tranquillity and firmness, which raises the possessor above revenge, and makes him delight in acts of benevolence, which makes him disdain injustice and meanness, and prompts him to sacrifice personal ease, interest and safety for the accomplishment of useful and noble objects.
